Maria Friese is a fiber artist whose work explores the intersection of nature and geometry. She finds inspiration in the symmetrical patterns of the natural world, from underwater structures to fossils, balancing precision with organic imperfection in her felt creations. Wool, one of humanity's oldest textile materials, is central to Maria’s artistic practice. The felting process—transforming soft fibers into a resilient material—mirrors themes of self-discovery and growth. Originally trained in textile design in Germany, she relocated to France in 2005, where she lives with her two daughters. With over a decade of international experience, Maria has gained recognition worldwide, including as a finalist in the World of WearableArt Awards in New Zealand. Beyond her art, she is a mentor, empowering women to embrace their creativity and confidence. Her legacy celebrates nature’s cycles, the transformative power of art, and the limitless potential within each individual.
