Biography

Shaima Askanani is an interior designer and a passionate visual and calligraphy artist. Raised in an artistic household, she was deeply influenced by her late father, the renowned Kuwaiti artist Hussein Ashkanani. This creative upbringing nurtured her love for fine art, guiding her toward a professional artistic career. Her work draws inspiration from the fluid beauty of Arabic lettering, merging traditional calligraphy with modern abstraction. Through bold strokes and delicate flourishes, she transforms letters into expressive, abstract compositions that evoke emotion and connection. Her art celebrates the timeless beauty of language as a visual experience. Shaima has held 11 solo exhibitions in Kuwait and participated in numerous international exhibitions across Bahrain, Oman, UAE, Egypt, Syria, Italy, and Saudi Arabia. Her talent has earned her prestigious awards, including multiple Al Qurain Festival honors, the Creativity Award (2018, 2022, 2024), and Best Artist among 100 global artists in Dubai
