Nigeria | Artist: Olubunmi AtereOlúbùnmi Atẹ́rẹ́ (b. 1991) is a Nigerian ceramic artist known for her distinctive carvings and evocative forms. Her works explore themes of self, culture, and societal values, using clay to comment on individual and collective consciousness. Interested in human emotions and their complexities, Olúbùnmi embraces the messy, raw aspects of life. A self-taught artist on a journey of self-discovery, her fascination with materials led her to ceramics, where she explores the transformation of matter through process. Her current work is influenced by nature, emotions, and culture, capturing intimate histories. Olúbùnmi holds a degree in Adult Education from Adekunle Ajasin University and works as a communicator. She won the Dr. Pius Okigbo Prize for Technical Proficiency at the 2022 Life in my City Art Festival. Her work has been exhibited in prestigious events such as LIMCAF 2022, NCECA USA, and the Mauritius International Art Fair 2023. Her art merges self, heritage, and creative expression.
