Biography
Yemen | Artist: Sahar Hasan Al-Lawdha’iSahar Hasan Al-Lawdha’i, a Yemeni-American visual artist, curator, and founder of the Qamaria for Arts Project, explores cultural identity through realism, abstraction, Arabic calligraphy, and stained glass. Her signature “windows of the moon” symbolize light and shadow, while fragmented calligraphy and intricate patterns reflect memory and heritage.
Her work delves into the psychological struggles of women, highlighting resilience and vulnerability. She has exhibited solo in the USA, Yemen, and Türkiye, with global biennial participation. Holding an MFA from Brooklyn College, she was the first Arab artist honored by New York State in 2021.
Sahar curates exhibitions celebrating Arab arts, including Threads of Light (Canada, USA, 2024), and champions emerging artists through Qamaria for Arts.
