4th February 2019
In celebration of International Women’s Day 2019, ZeeArts is hosting one of the largest Women Art Exhibition at the One&Only Royal Mirage in Dubai and a Conference, bringing over one hundred women arts from countries across the world, under the theme #Balanceforbetter.
At the exhibition, set to take place between March 7th-10th, both established and emerging women artists representing a constellation of nationalities, ethnicities and ages from over a hundred countries across Europe, Africa, the Middle East, Asia, the Americas and Oceania, will gather, united by a shared belief in the power of art as a transformational social enterprise.
Alongside the artwork displayed in the main exhibition, the event will also include a number of exciting events including the unveiling of a new book entitled “100 Women Artists Around the World”, the launch of an International Women’s Day song “Chéri ce n’est pas moi” and, in collaboration with Alliance Francaise-Dubai, a conference bringing leaders in the creative industry together to inspire our artist entrepreneurs and to officially launch the Women Film Festival in Middle East regions.
The artists will be invited to galvanize a body of work (painting, sculpture, installation or assemblage), and to exhibit it in a city that transforms dreams into reality, and which is fast-becoming a global art epicenter. The event will provide a platform for women artists to reflect, connect, collaborate, and network, coming together to strategically tackle some of the greatest challenges faced by today’s female entrepreneurs.
The event’s founder, Zaahirah Muthy, is a passionate art activist from Mauritius. Zaahirah has dedicated her life to encouraging positive social change and amplifying a powerful message of empowerment through her art and artistic initiatives. As well as exhibiting in the Middle East, Africa, Europe, the US and Asia, Zaahirah is the curator for World Art Dubai, and has curated over 25 art exhibitions in UAE, Singapore, Georgia and Lebanon. She is also the architect behind the International Women Art Exhibition.
The event organizer, ZeeArts, is a leading art organization with a core mission of connecting and empowering local and international artists through art exhibitions, events, retreats and cultural exchanges. The organization has a strong commitment to social responsibility, and the philosophy that investing in and empowering women artists leads to thriving economies, long-term productivity and sustainable growth.
International Women’s Day has been celebrated worldwide each year on March 8th since 1911. It provides an opportunity for men and women alike to reflect and to celebrate acts of courage and determination by ordinary women who play an extraordinary role in the professional, economic, cultural, political, social and environmental industries, and a call to action for the continued commitment to achieving a gender-balanced world.
