Biography

Born in Sarajevo in 1984, Lea Jerlagić is a distinguished artist and educator. She graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts at the University of Sarajevo and later received a Chinese Government scholarship in 2007 to study Chinese culture, language, and woodblock printing at the China Academy of Art in Hangzhou under Professor Zhang Xiaofeng. In 2013, she earned her master’s degree with her project Synaesthesia, exploring sensory transformation through visual art. A member of the Association of Visual Artists of Bosnia and Herzegovina (ULUBIH) since 2011, Lea has exhibited nationally and internationally, including in Serbia, Japan, and Croatia. Her solo exhibitions, such as Chinese Woodcuts and Erotic Persona and Intimacy, have gained acclaim. She has won multiple awards, including the Best Graphic Award (2013) and Best Drawing Award (2022). Currently an Assistant Professor at the Academy of Fine Arts in Sarajevo, she continues to explore human nature through her art.
