Biography

Alia Medhat, a UAE-based visual artist, blends ancient traditions with contemporary expression. A graduate of the Faculty of Fine Arts (2007), she explores themes of legacy, identity, and love, drawing inspiration from her Egyptian heritage and Middle Eastern culture. Since moving to the UAE in 2016, Alia has become a prominent figure in the regional art scene. Her work merges acrylic painting, Arabic calligraphy, and mixed media, incorporating gold leaf and intricate stenciling. This fusion creates visually striking pieces that bridge tradition and modernity. Her calligraphy is more than decorative—it conveys deep messages, resonating emotionally and intellectually. Through graceful script and rich textures, her art invites reflection on identity and legacy. Beyond her studio practice, Alia leads workshops and exhibits widely, including at Tashkeel in Dubai. Passionate about art’s power to inspire and connect, she continuously explores new techniques, fostering cross-cultural dialogue through creativity.
