Biography

Dina Nomena Andriarimanjaka is a Malagasy artist, designer, researcher, and visual storyteller with a transdisciplinary and experimental approach. Passionate about art, social sciences, ethical fashion, and history, she explores the intersections of these fields to challenge and reinterpret historical narratives. As a feminist artist, Dina examines the connections between society, history, and memory—both personal and collective. Her work focuses on uncovering overlooked stories of women in Madagascar, preserving and redefining their cultural heritage. She revitalizes archival images through collage, sewing, and embroidery, transforming history into contemporary poetic narratives. Through her unique techniques, she (re)writes, tells, and (re)sews the past, ensuring women's histories—what she calls "matrimoine"—are remembered and honored. Her work is not only an artistic expression but also an act of preservation and reclamation, bridging the past with the present.
