Roberta Queiroga is a visual artist from Brazil, now based in Aotearoa New Zealand. Her experiences living in Japan and Portugal have profoundly shaped her artistic practice, blending personal and cultural narratives into her work. With a background in architecture, she approaches abstract expressionism with a deep understanding of spatial relationships, materiality, and aesthetics. Her art is deeply autobiographical, exploring themes of transformation, legacy, and the connection between place and memory. Roberta often works with her hands, allowing raw emotions to flow onto the canvas, creating a spontaneous, tactile process that serves as a bridge to her heart. Her abstract work resonates universally, inviting viewers to explore their own identities and stories. Roberta has exhibited in numerous solo and group exhibitions, including at the Auckland Museum, and has been a finalist in prestigious art prizes.
