Biography

Joan Namaggwa is a surrealist oil painting artist, born to a family of Paul Mugambe on 02 February 2002 in Kampala, Uganda. She pursued a bachelor’s degree in Industrial and Fine Art at the Margaret Trowell school of industrial and fine art Makerere university and graduated with expansive knowledge in fine art, specifically; Oil Painting, Fashion Design, Textile Design and Drawing. Her first experience as an artist was at a very tender age when she was still in Junior school at about 5 years old when she got the desire to be creative and draw things. She is inspired by imagination and prides herself in the support that her family rendered during this time and got her most of the materials that she needed and from the work that she was producing at the time, they saw a vision in her and immediately knew that she was going to be a fine artist. As an artist, her work is driven by a desire to tell stories and convey messages. She believes that art has the power to connect people across cultures and time, and that it can serve as a means of bridging divides and fostering understanding. Her work portrays a spiritual projection of her soul to the world and explores her mysterious journey to self-discovery in a free world of creation.
